With Bloc Party on hiatus, front man Kele Okereke is putting out a solo record. Entitled The Boxer, he’s putting it out under his first name, Kele. The album, made with Spank Rock producer XXXChange, is all electronic music, clearly following the pattern shown on the last boring Bloc Party record. Kele says in the presser for the release: ‘The key for the sound of the record was to take things as harsh and as physical as I could make it. The reason for going there was that these are the sounds that make me the happiest in the world.’ Oh dear.
It’s out on Wichita on June 14 following a European solo tour in May. See below for the track listing.
