It’s been three long years since Klaxons exploded onto the music scene with their fluoro threads and nu rave styling, almost singlehandedly taking responsibility for every teenager in Sydney and Melbourne pilfering Target’s Summer 1988 range out of op shops or then paying through the nose for copies.

After seemingly launching themselves on a juggernaught to the big time they disappeared, clearly forgetting that Gen Y would move on beyond their nu-rave stylings and get caught up with something else. Rumours swirled that their record label had rejected their album and sent them back in to the studio to start again.

Well they’re back – and they’re streaming their new single Flashover on their website. It sounds like Death From Above 1979 having sex in a broom cupboard with Sonic Youth and it should scare off most people that remembered them from back in 2007. However, it might just pick them up a whole new bunch of less fickle fans.
