Prince thinks that the internet is a fad and is refusing to release his new album online. In an interview with London’s Daily Mirror, which is giving away his new album 20Ten in the UK he declares that giving albums away with newspapers (which he did with his last album in 2007) is a new way to distribute music and that “The internet’s completely over. I don’t see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won’t pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can’t get it.The internet’s like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated. Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good. They just fill your head with numbers and that can’t be good for you.”
As well as banning the release of tunes to iTunes and Youtube, Prince clearly doesn’t believe that the album will be up on file sharing sites, denying him of more income within days. In further developments, Prince also thinks that Beta-Max video is the way of the future and buying shares in BP is a good move at the moment.
