Metal, punk, and hard rock fans around Australia have barely had any time to let the Soundwave Festival 2016 lineup sink in, but festival founder AJ Maddah is already plotting two supplementary announcements.

The first round lineup was announced last week, boasting the likes of Disturbed, Deftones, The Prodigy, NOFX, Bring Me The Horizon, Public Enemy, and many more, putting an end to a lengthy drip-feed and much speculation.

According to Maddah, there’s still more goodness in store for fans. Taking to social media, Maddah said organisers will drop “a supplementary announcement next week with 4 or 5 bands” and another announcement of about eight acts later this month.

Fielding questions from curious fans, Maddah confirmed the supplementary lineups will feature selections from the death and/or black metal worlds and gave one fan an enthusiastic “YES!” when asked if there would be any pop punk.

Having experimented with a two-day format for their last instalment, Soundwave Festival 2016 will see Australia’s premier hard rock and heavy metal event return to the single-day format, hitting up venues in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.
