Last month, the Sydney Morning Herald reported the good news that Australia’s music industry is on track to return to growth for the first time since 2012, with digital revenues accounting for more than two-thirds of sales this year.

In 2012, total recorded music revenues rose for only the second time in a decade, bolstered by a series of global hits, including Adele’s 21. However, they fell 11.6 percent in 2013 and slid 9.62 percent last year.

With 2015 yielding some promising figures, just what did album sales in Australia look like over the past 12 months? Well, they looked like Adele, who did better than everyone, selling three times faster than Justin Bieber at number two.

Noise11 have now unveiled Australia’s 20 fastest selling albums of the year, noting that when compared to last year’s fastest seller, Taylor Swift’s blockbuster 1989, Adele’s 25 outsold 1989‘s first 10 days two to one.

Only 15 albums sold more than 10,000 copies in their first week so far during 2015 and speculation is high that Coldplay’s next full-length, the highly anticipated A Head Full Of Dreams, out this Friday, will be the last of 2015.
