Veronica & Lewis Turned The Triple J Listener Texts Into A Song

After trekking across Australia as part of their incredible O-Week marathon, triple j hosts Veronica & Lewis participated in a different kind of marathon yesterday, appearing on the station for 12 hours straight to raise money for triple j’s Fiji Appeal.

As readers have no doubt heard, Tropical Cyclone Winston has wreaked havoc on Fiji. Winston was one of the most powerful cyclones ever recorded in the Southern Hemisphere and wrecked thousands of homes, leaving 35,000 people without shelter.

triple j have partnered with CARE Australia to raise money for Fiji and are encouraging listeners to give generously. To sweeten the deal, they teamed up with Art Vs Science and fellow triple j alum KLP to pen a song for listeners who texted in and chucked them a few coins.

This one-off collab then performed the fresh Caribbean tune live on air, incorporating people’s texts into the lyrics of the song with some amusing and at times awkward results. Check out the clip below or via Veronica & Lewis’ Facebook page and donate here.
