We love it when our favourite Aussie bands get industrious, showing that entrepreneurial Australian spirit by launching their own record label or their music festival. Well, you can now add Melbourne’s Cherry Dolls to that list.

The ’60s-inspired five-piece have announced their own mini-festival set to take place at The Evelyn Hotel over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend. Dubbed I Feel Alright Festival, it promises to be one hell of a party.

The Cherry Dolls will of course be performing and they’ve gone ahead and asked their mates White Summer, Pretty City, The Destrends, Electric Exiles, The Tiny Giants, The Shakes, Birdhouse, and more to join them.

To celebrate what’s set to be an epic rock n roll party, I Feel Alright festival organiser Joshua Aubry (from the Cherry Dolls) has curated an epic Aussie rock mixtape which you can check out below.

AC/DC (Bon Scott) – ‘Dog Eat Dog’

AC/DC are the gods of Rock n’ Roll, Let There Be Rock is the best album of all time. Bon Scott is the greatest front man of all time. Angus Young is the best guitarist of all time. My Dad used to blast ‘Dog Eat Dog’ when I was growing up and I’d watch him go absolutely mental. It was at that moment I fell in love with Rock n’ Roll.

Nick Cave – ‘Stagger Lee’

Nick Cave bleeds Rock n’ Roll. Attitude, Swagger, and not to mention the best lyricist of all time in my books. I remember the first time my sister showed me ‘The Birthday Party’ when I was 12 and it scared the shit out of me but something kept drawing me back to it.’

The Vines – ‘Outtathaway’

The Vines blow my fucking mind, Craig’s vocals really influenced me growing up when I started singing. I used to sit in my room and scream along to Highly Evolved everyday. They were the first band I saw at Splendour in the Grass in 2011 and it changed my life.’

The Delta Riggs – ‘Counter Revolution’

‘I supported ‘The Delta Riggs’ on their Counter Revolution tour when I was playing in a Punk Rock band on the Sunshine Coast at Solbar. I didn’t know much about them but I thought Counter Revolution was a fresh breathe of air. Who would of thought six years down the track I would be living with Alex (guitarist) and he would become The Cherry Dolls producer?’

Wolfmother – ‘White Unicorn’

Wolfmother’s first album is amazing. Has vibes of Zeppelin and Sabbath. Stockdale’s vocals were mental. Minds Eye was one of the first songs I learnt
on drums.’

The Scare – ‘Could Be Bad’

I grew up with ‘The Scare’ I think it was the worse thing that could of ever happened to me. Sam gave me my first and only drum lesson, Wade and Liam recorded the first song I ever wrote, Brock gave me my first cigarette and kiss my first hangover. All and all they were the best and ‘oozevoodo’ was one of the most underrated albums of all time. Please get back together.’

Jet – ‘Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is’

It’s not cool to say you ever liked ‘Jet’ in Melbourne. Fuck you. Jet ruled. Jet still rule.

Stop pretending you didn’t dream of being them when you were younger you pretentious
fucking hipster. We worked with Chris ‘Frenchie’ Smith on our last record which is due to be out in August. He did ‘Shaka Rock’ for Jet and the production is insane.’

Drunk Mums – ‘Plastic’

What a fucking band! They absolutely nail dirty Aussie pub rock. But they are more then
just that. Infectious sing alongs with great classic rock n’ roll guitar riffs and that driving bass!

We had one of the most strangest nights with them out in the gong after some whack festival
we played together. I think you can watch it on youtube somewhere?’

The Ninjas – ‘Kill ’em All’

Brissy boys The Ninjas are one of my favourite bands at the moment. Josh’s way of writing is genius and he has an amazing voice. We are bringing them to Melbourne for some shows soon, cant wait!’

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard – ‘Head On/ Pill’

I don’t have any words for King Gizzard, everything they do is TOO good!

Batz – ‘3 Am Pony’

Batz is my Sister, Chrissy & Dali’s band. Us boys play for them but its all about them.
They steal the show, real rock n’ roll girls playing real rock n’ roll, its fucking liberating!
