We’ve seen a string of notable Aussie band reunions in recent months. Maybe the government’s putting new additives in the water, because so far we’ve seen the likes of End of Fashion, George, and Killing Heidi get the band back together.
Or maybe it’s just that, for whatever reason, we’re all feeling super nostalgic at the moment. Either way, we’re excited for a Killing Heidi reunion not only because we’re seeing the return of one of our favourite Aussie bands, but for the memories it brings back.
One of the many memories that come rushing back when we think Killing Heidi is of their appearances at the ARIA Awards, which by the way are just around the corner. The band managed to pick up Album of the Year, Best Group, Best Rock Album, and Breakthrough Artist in their time.
And according to frontwoman Ella Hooper, who recently caught up with Noisey, things got pretty loose during the ARIAs. “The ARIAs were my first taste of going to a ‘big event,’ and to be such a big part of that ‘big event’ was pretty crazy,” she said.
“I did drink, but the rules seemed to be looser back then and I had good people around me making sure I didn’t Gabriella Cilmi it onstage. I didn’t pash anyone, I never really dated in the industry, but I always made a lot of new friends.”
“I ended up fully clothed in a bath with Missy Higgins in Jet’s penthouse one year, and helped Kelly Osbourne piff bread rolls at Richard Wilkins’ head another. But those first few ARIAs, my memory is very blurry.”
Speaking to News Corp, Ella Hooper said she’d repeatedly turned down offers to reunite, but felt the time was right to look back on that era of her career and celebrate it. “I’m really glad we’ve waited this long,” she said. Check below for all the band’s upcoming shows.
