It’s been previously established that Finn Wolfhard of Stranger Things is way too talented and cool for his own good. The 15-year old’s band Calpurnia has already penned a record deal with Royal Mountain records, released a single and covered a slew of classic alternative tracks by The Velvet Underground, Pixies and Weezer.
Now, the band have released a new track ‘Greyhound’, which is set to feature on their upcoming debut EP Scout, due out on June 15th. The six-track EP was recorded with Twin Peaks’ frontman Cadien Lake James and features the two previously released singles City Boy and Louie, that saw the band take inspiration from modern indie icons like Parquet Courts and Kurt Vile.
‘Greyhound’ follows in a similar vein, showcasing yet again the four kids who make up Calpurnia are bred from a musical pedigree most kids don’t quite get blessed with.
Listen to the new track below:
“It’s like a four-way Venn diagram,” says bassist Jack Anderson, who met as a result of PUP’s music video for ‘Guilt Trip’.
“We all have our own sounds and our own influences, but somehow when we all come together all our different sounds and styles amalgamate to create something new. It just works.”
We’re sure the EP will prove to be a commercial success for the young guns – the track ‘City Boy’ has already been streamed 2 million times and managed to nab the #1 spot on the Australian Viral Top 50 Chart.
