If you missed out on seeing Kimbra perform on her Aussie tour earlier this year, then you might want to listen up, with the chart-topping musician announcing a one-off Melbourne show next month.

Having burst onto the music scene back in 2011, Kimbra has been spending the last few years working hard on a collection of new tunes. Releasing her long-awaited third album, Primal Heart, back in April, the Kiwi muso followed this up with a series of well-received Aussie dates back in July.

Now, fans are getting the chance to experience this world-beating musician in an intimate setting, with a one-off Melbourne show taking place next month.

Taking place at the Collingwood’s Gasometer Hotel on November 22nd, fan will get a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with Kimbra.

“It is a special kind of show that I haven’t done before performing some of my songs in an entirely new way, incorporating upright bass and piano,”she explained of this unique gig.

If you’re looking for a bit of an idea as to what this show might sound like, we’d suggest checking out Kimbra’s brand new EP, which is released today. Titled Songs From Primal Heart Reimagined, the new release does what it says on the tin, and showcases reimagined versions of songs from Kimbra’s most recent album.

“My album Primal Heart was a record that allowed me to open up in so many new ways,” Kimbra explained. “I wanted to keep pushing the potential of how these songs could be heard.”

“I asked the incredibly talented Lars Horntveth to produce + arrange the songs in a new setting, reimagined through the lens of his unique melodic intuition, also known as the sound of Norwegian band, Jaga Jazzist (one of my favorite bands!).”

“We brought a small group of amazing musicians on board to recreate 4 songs from Primal Heart in a more intimate, live, stripped back setting at Red Bull studios in New York.”

Kimbra is set to take this intimate show to the US before she heads back down to Australia, giving international audiences a taste of this reimagined tracks as well. This performance also comes right in the middle of Kimbra’s high-profile support slot for David Byrne, which will see her performing all around the country at the end of November.

Tickets to this unique Melbourne show go on sale from 1pm, on Tuesday, October 30th, with a Live Nation pre-sale kicking off the day before.
