Melbourne’s ’90s rock mainstays Moler are getting the band back together next month, playing a one-off show in celebration of their 25th anniversary.

If you were anywhere near the Melbourne music scene back in the ’90s, you probably would’ve run into Moler somewhere along the way. Whether it was thanks to their stunning live shows, an appearance on Recovery, or brilliant singles like ‘Red Light Disco’ and ‘Infatuation’, Moler were one brilliant group.

After kicking things off as Snuff back in 1993, the group renamed themselves as Moler and embarked on an all-too short career. Releasing a handful of EPs along the way, and one full-length record, the group supported the likes of Ash and Weezer, and found themselves as one of the most beloved names in Melbourne’s alt-rock scene.

Sadly, following years with something of a revolving-door lineup, the group split up in 2001, though its members haven’t exactly been keeping quiet. While Julien Poulson is known as a founder of The Cambodian Space Project, Helen Cattanach can be found fronting Los Dominados, and recently appeared as part of the house band for the Spicks And Specks reunion special.

Now, with David Peacock and Steven Boyle sharing the drums, Moler are set to get back together next month for a one-off show in their hometown of Melbourne.

There’s no new rekkid, in fact our records are so rare you can’t buy/stream or download them anymore from anywhere,” explained David Peacock. “So come hear them live, loud and most probably a little loose to celebrate 25 years of Moler.”

“We were a band made better suited for art galleries, or more so, for the movies of our minds, than for the grungy clubs of the Nirvana Nineties but what fun we had!” says Julien Poulson. “Traveling the length and breadth of the country in a vintage Valiant hearse bought from the Wodonga Undertakers…I mean who does that? Moler that’s who! And I can almost feel that old Hemi firing up again”.

Moler are set to take over The Curtin Hotel in Carlton on November 23rd, with support from Glomesh and Digger & The Pussycats. Tickets are available now through the venue’s website.
