Rolling Stones’ guitarist Keith Richards has revealed that he has cut back drastically on drinking.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, the rock legend detailed his decision to stop drinking. “It’s been about a year now. I pulled the plug on it. I got fed up with it.” Richards shared. He admitted that he still partakes in “a glass of wine occasionally, and a beer,” but stressed, “It was time to quit.”

He continued to delve into the experience of quitting sharing, “I don’t notice any difference really – except for I don’t drink. I wasn’t feeling right. I’ve done it. I didn’t want that anymore.”

This is insane news to comprehends when you consider the hedonist legacy that has always been attached to Richards name. In all honesty, I thought the man had embalmed his vital organs in an alcohol fuelled cocoon and would continue to live forever.
It’s been eight years since fellow bandmate Ron Wood decided to pursue a sober lifestyle. Wood shared with the publication that Richards has been  “a pleasure to worth with,” revealing that he is “Much more mellow. He’s open to more ideas, whereas before I’d kind of grit my teeth and go, ‘He’s gonna give me some shit for saying this.’ Now, he’ll say, ‘That’s cool, man.’ ”

The Stones are currently gearing up to hit the US on a mammoth slew of tour dates early next year.

Last month, Keith Richards hinted that 2019 could be the last year The Rolling Stones tour.
