Dave Grohl is rock music’s most down to earth and hospitable human. Fact.

Who else helped cook a delicious barbeque for firefighters after the Californian wildfires in November? Which other rock star has invited a blind child onstage with them to live out their dream? Name another band who’ve auctioned their one of a kind gear off for charity?

Whilst others were spending their Christmas fawning over gifts, eternal giver Dave Grohl spent 36 hours barbequing, raising funds for Los Angeles Regional Food Bank as part of BackBeat BBQ .

Grohl dove right in, cooking up a storm of brisket, ribs and pulled pork for the Eat, Drink and Support benefit, in which he served guests himself, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

His BBQ lasted and hour and a half before running out completely, after which he spent another half an hour chatting with fans.

It wouldn’t be a Dave Grohl event without the inclusion of a tune or two – the legend hopped onstage with his famed 70s cover band Chevy Metal, alongside his Foo Fighters bandmate Taylor Hawkins.

The band were also joined by Lisa Loeb, Nikki Sixx and Hawkins’ 11-year-old son, Shane, who joined for a cover of the Rolling Stones’ ‘Miss You’.

Check out Chevy Metal perform a slew of classics, including Thin Lizzy’s ‘Jailbreak’ and AC/DC’s ‘Let There Be Rock’.
