Lars Ulrich has opened up about his musical highlight of 2018, revealing his favourite rock band of the previous year.

Lars Ulrich might be known as one of the most famous drummers in metal history, but it seems that he still has time to discover new music and make new favourites along the way.

Speaking to Maxim magazine recently, Ulrich was asked about what new music has inspired him over the last year. As it turned out, he revealed he’s a big fan of the Arctic Monkeys, and their latest album, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.

“When I’m working out or driving from point A to point B, I listen more to the Arctic Monkeys than anything else,” he began. “Their new album that came out in May is just an incredible record.”

“It just makes you want to go back and revisit their whole catalog because each record is so different. You’d go back and revisit things from previous records and fall in love with them for different reasons than you did five years ago or eight years ago.”

“I would say when I think of 2018, the main musical mainstay is definitely the Arctic Monkeys for me.”

This bit of praise comes just months before the Arctic Monkeys are set to touch down in Australia for their first tour of the country since 2019. Check out all the touring details below.
