In true Stranger Things–Calpurnia form, the best-selling author behind Bird Box – who had his life thrust further into the spotlight when Netflix picked up the book and made Sandra Bullock the lead – is racking up a few extra streams for his band.

Josh Malerman is the guitarist, vocalist and founding member of The High Strung, the five-piece Detroit band which formed in 2000 to make fast-paced garage rock and hard-slapping indie.

You may have heard of them. The High Strung has released no less than eight albums over 18 years and have had their music featured on Shameless (nice Netflix reference, guys), and This American Life.

Now – and the timing on this is just perfect, really – The High Strung are readying the release of their eighth LP Quiet Riots.

This is after the Netflix adaptation of Bird Box saw a record-setting 45.3 million of Netflix’s 137 million accounts watched at least 70% of the movie in the first week of its release.

The 13-track record can be previewed over on Bandcamp, and pre-orders are now available here.
