Courtney Love has slammed punk icons Bikini Kill, calling them “total amateurs” and questioning the sincerity of their upcoming reunion tour.

Last week, pioneering riot grrrl outfit Bikini Kill revealed that they’re getting back together for their first tour since 1997.

Understandably, this was a pretty big deal for fans of the rockers. After all, vocalist Kathleen Hana was the one who coined the title ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’, and their songs have become anthems for generations of rebellious music fans.

However, it seemed as though tickets were in very high demand for this tour, with the Instagram account for BUST Magazine noting that the group’s upcoming shows sold out in mere seconds thanks to ticket bots.

While the magazine noted that they were hoping “for them to add a few more shows”, this post soon attracted the attention of another famed rocker; Courtney Love.

As NME reports, Courtney Love soon took to the comments section to share her thoughts on Bikini Kill’s reunion tour. “Speak for yourself,” she wrote. “Biggest Hoax in [the] history of rock and roll.”

Soon, fans began chiming in, sharing their own opinions as well. One fan noted that, “Riot Grrrl was a failed experiment that died the second they decided shunning their own exposure was the ‘anti-establishment’ way. Bikini Kill were sort of over before they even started.”

Courtney Love simply responded to this comment with an enthusiastic, “Exactly!”

“It’s worse when I speak truth to rock male industrial complex,” Love continued in another comment. “But at least I have the best view. Two of that band total amateurs. Hanna is a good hype man. But her persona is such a diy nonsense dilettante.”

“A big idea they cannot convey, because they suck. That’s all!”

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Courtney Love has clashed with Bikini Kill, reportedly accusing Kathleen Hanna of stalking Kurt Cobain in the early ’90s.

This feud again ramped up in 1995 when Hole and Bikini Kill performed at Lollapalooza, and the two bands clashed backstage. After allegedly punching Hanna in the face, Love was charged with assault and sentenced to anger management classes.

Neither Kathleen Hanna or the other members of Bikini Kill have responded to Courtney Love’s comments at the current time.
