Canadian post-hardcore heroes Alexisonfire appear to be teasing something, with fans speculating it could be the band’s first new single in years.

Forming in Canada back in 2001, Alexisonfire managed to carve out a name for themselves as one of the finest post-hardcore acts going around. After releasing four studio albums, the band decided to call it quits in 2012, with 2009’s Old Crows/Young Cardinals serving as their last full-length release.

After a few years of Dallas Green working on his City And Colour side project, 2015 saw the band announce their full-time return.

Since then, they’ve been touring around the world, and fans have been loving the group’s return to the live stage. Now, it seems as though their reunion might be taken up a notch, with a cryptic video apparently teasing new music.

Taking to Facebook recently, Alexisonfire gave their profile a little bit of an overhaul, changing their profile and cover photos to black images, and sharing a cryptic video on their page.

Titled ‘Familiar Drugs’, this brief clip features glitchy imagery, a sharp tone in the background, and not much else. As you could expect, fans have been going wild trying to work out just what this new video could mean.

According to a screenshot taken by a fan of the ‘Post-Hardcore’ Facebook page, the clip is in promotion of the band’s new single, ‘Familiar Drugs’. While these details haven’t been confirmed, the new tune is supposedly set for release in just a couple of weeks, on February 15th.

While we’re still awaiting confirmation that Alexisonfire are indeed releasing a new single and that it is indeed called ‘Familiar Drugs’, it’s very exciting news nonetheless.

As it stands, the band’s last release of all-original material came back in 2010, when they released the experimental Dog’s Blood. In 2012, the group waved goodbye for the first time with the Death Letter EP, which consisted of acoustic versions of their old songs.

Alexisonfire’s last tour of Australia came back in early 2017, so let’s hope that by the next time they visit, we’ve got either a new single, or – even better – a new album to sing along to from the crowd.
