The Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to make history this week, announcing plans for a free livestream of their performance at the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.
Did you miss out on seeing the Red Hot Chili Peppers on their recent tour of Australia? Well, then you’re in luck, because the group are set to livestream their upcoming gig for free via the internet.
But where is this gig being performed, you ask? Could it be somewhere in Red Hot Chili Peppers’ hometown of Los Angeles? Or could it be at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre? The musical nanny state of New South Wales? Nope, this one will be taking place at one of the seven wonders of the world.
Yes, appearing at the Great Pyramids of Giza this Friday, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to become the latest in a slowly-increasing number of musicians performing at the historical location.
While artists such as the Grateful Dead, Sting, Frank Sinatra, and Kylie Minogue have all performed at the pyramids in the past, it has become rarer for big-name international acts to perform at the venue in recent years.

Thankfully, this historic concert isn’t going to be one solely limited to just those in the area, with the band following in the footsteps of Paul McCartney and others to announce a free webcast of the event.
While the gig itself takes place on Friday night in Egypt, time differences mean that we might need to get up early for this one. While our American friends can tune in from 11am on Friday, the gig will kick off for us Aussies at 6am AEDT on Saturday, March 16th.
Sure, it might be an early alarm to set for a nice Saturday morning, but it’ll be worth it to see one of the greatest rock bands going around do their thing in such an historic location.
If you’re keen on viewing the gig, you can tune in from the YouTube video above, or you can head along to the band’s Facebook and Twitter pages to watch all the action.
