Linkin Park member Joe Hahn has offered an insight into the future of Linkin Park, noting the band’s members have discussed the idea of new music.

Ever since the tragic passing of Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington back in 2017, the future of the band has been in doubt.

While the group’s remaining members have come together to pay tribute to their late frontman, and to hit up the studio, there’s been no definitive answer about what the future holds.

While Mike Shinoda has admitted he’s “open” to playing more Linkin Park gigs down the line, he’s also gone on record to admit he doesn’t “really know where it’s gonna go”.

Although Shinoda denied the fact that the band were actively looking for a new singer, bassist Dave Farrell said he’s rather positive that the band would record new music at some point down the line.

Now, it seems that we’re getting that little bit closer, with keyboardist Joe Hahn revealing that new music was indeed a topic that has been discussed.

Speaking to South Korea’s Yohnhap news agency (and transcribed by the Linkin Park Fan Club Worldwide), Joe Hahn opened up about the status of the band, and where the group are at musically.

“[Chester] was our best friend. I miss him,” Hahn began. “The members are taking care of themselves and their families and are going through the problems in their own way.”

“Now the band has started talking about making new music together.”

However, when it comes to the topic of when the band will make their return, Hahn admitted he’s unsure at the current time.

“Maybe in about 10 years? (Laughs) It might be sooner,” he noted. “I don’t want to set a deadline.”

“We just want to focus on the present and talk about music. We aren’t discussing detailed plans. I just want to go back to those days when I made music in the warehouse.”

While Joe Hahn also explained that “all possibilities are open” when it comes to who will take over vocal duties, he also discussed an upcoming photo exhibition featuring pictures taken during Linkin Park’s final tour.

“On our last tour, I took the camera and took pictures of the members,” Hahn explained. “When I was performing, I took a pictures of all the guys. Sort of like a time capsule.”

Although there’s no word yet as to when this photo exhibit might come to the rest of the world, fans can undoubtedly take solace in knowing we’re that little bit closer to receiving new music from Linkin Park.
