Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan and celebrity chef Guy Fieri are set to team up soon, appearing on an episode of Sammy Hagar’s Rock & Roll Road Trip.
For a few years now, former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar has been presenting his own TV show, Rock & Roll Road Trip.
The premise of the show is simple, showing Hagar on a road trip (presumably going faster than 55 mph) during which he ends up talking to famed rock musicians, discussing a wide-reaching array of topics along the way.
In recent years, he’s interviewed the likes of ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, Tommy Lee and Vince Neil of Mötley Crüe, Alice Cooper, The Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir, and many other acclaimed artists.
However, an upcoming episode is set to feature one of the strangest pairings to air on the show to date.
Sharing a photo on Facebook recently, television network AXS TV revealed that an upcoming episode of the show will feature both Guy Fieri and Tool’s Maynard James Keenan.
Titled ‘Tool’n Around in Flavortown’, the episode is set to air on July 7th in the US, and there’s a very good chance that Tool fans around the world will be looking on with shock and awe as to what the show will contain.
Most likely though, this episode will see Maynard’s winemaking coming into play, with the acclaimed vocalist’s side job being the focus of numerous interviews and documentaries over the years.
Of course, most fans are wondering whether this new episode will appear following the release of Tool’s first new album in 13 years.
After years of rumours and innuendo, Danny Carey gave fans a promising update in January, explaining that the record would be released in mid-April. “That’s the plan, anyway,” Carey explained at the time.
Sadly, Maynard offered up another update, denying this timeframe and explaining that in his “best ballpark guess”, the album’s new release date would be “somewhere between Mid May and Mid July,” while promising “more focused updates to follow as we progress.”
Considering that this episode of Rock & Roll Road Trip is set to premiere by mid-July, well, we might just have some new Tool to soundtrack our watch session.
