Mount Gambier band Recreator have issued an online statement following allegations of racism in the wake of a social media post around a recent death.

The hit and run death of an influential Sudanese woman from Melbourne was met with widespread sadness and devastation, but for Recreator, it was a completely different story.

A post to the band’s Facebook page shared the story, and said “1 down, 150,000 to go”. It then concludes, “Yes, I’m a c**t”.

As Mike Hohnen reported, “Recreator was emitting some considerable heat from the regional South Australian centre. The band had received critical, and industry acclaim; They had a record label; They’d just finished a new record which they were moments away from announcing.”

Recreator were gearing up to make an announcement
Recreator had a record which was almost ready for release.

“Now, all that exists of Recreator is screenshots, unlinked tags, and an important lesson in how being racist will ruin cripple your bands progress in Australia.”

After this, the band removed all their accounts on all platforms, and tried to remove themselves from the internet.

Upon checking their Youtube hours later
All of Recreator’s accounts begun to disappear.

Now, band member Nathan Jenner has issued an online statement which reads:

“I Nathan, take full responsibility for everything that has happened. Jesse and Chris are completely innocent and have no part in any of this, nor do they have any connection at all anymore to this page or label, or have ever shared in any of my views I’ve had. This has blown way out of hand and has now become life destroying for us and our families and I want to stress Jesse and Chris complete innocence.

The post on Friday was a shit c”nt post that was meant to go to a shit c”nt group, but instead got posted on the band page. It wasn’t even made with any true malicious intent, just about being a shit c”nt and laughing at the misery of the world. Didn’t even think of the pain the family of the woman who was in the article must be feeling, because that’s how disconnected you can become, and I’m so sorry. I now see how social media has turned me into a horrible Person, and I need to stay off it now and get some humanity and love back in my heart, and seek counseling. This has been life destroying already, and I have paid a huge price, as have the others and their families, and now ask for forgiveness to try and be a better person, and focus 100% on my family now.

We all make mistakes, and we can also all change for the better. I’m sorry for all the pain I have caused everyone, and hope that this will now blow over. The band has been completely destroyed by this, and will never exist again.

I’m sure I will be attacked for this, but want to stress once again that Jesse and Chris are totally innocent and have never shared my views.
Social media has become a horrible and nasty toxic thing on society, and trial by social media is evil, and I will no longer be a part of it. Once again I can’t stress how sorry I am and the damage and pain I have caused everyone around me

This is the hardest lesson I’ve ever had to learn and endure in my life, and it has taken a huge toll on my health, and it’s 100% my own fault and I take full responsibility. Once again, Im so sorry for all the pain I have caused.”

All that remains of this band is the shattered reputation it’s created for itself.
