Aussie rock icons Spiderbait are set to dish out the hits this November, announcing a special one-off show which will see them play every one of their singles.

How often have you gone to a show wanting to hear nothing but bangers, only to receive new tracks and experimental deep cuts from a band? It’s a common occurrence, that’s for sure, in fact LCD Soundsystem even named their Shut Up And Play The Hits documentary after the calls of the surly fan.

But how often do you receive exactly the opposite, where you go to see a group play and receive nothing but only the top-shelf content? Well, that’s exactly what Spiderbait have on offer later this year when they hit up Melbourne’s Forum Theatre.

Announced today, Spiderbait are set to release a brand new vinyl box set full of 7″ singles this November, and to celebrate, they’ll be playing a one-off show in Melbourne where they do nothing but perform their singles.

“For the first time we’ll be performing every one of singles in order of release, from ‘Circle K’ way back in 1990 to now,” explained Spiderbait drummer and vocalist Kram.

“It’s been great to look back at all these singles, from number 1s like ‘Black Betty’ and ‘Buy Me A Pony’, to my personal faves like ‘Calypso’, ‘Stevie’ and ‘It’s Beautiful’.

“They are like a diary of our lives bringing back memories from the whole time we’ve been playing together.

“The same three country kids who formed a band for fun and ended up having this fucked up, brilliant, unexpected adventure! So to all our fans, come celebrate with us at the Forum in November, it will be a special night.”

The upcoming box set is set to collect six of Spiderbait’s biggest singles, all presented on 7″ vinyl with original mixes and artwork, turning it into a must-have item for any respectable collector of Aussie rock.

“We included ‘Old Man Sam’ from 1991 – which wasn’t actually a single back then but might as well have been, as weirdly and wonderfully it became our first big hit song!” Kram explains of one interesting inclusion in the set.

“I’ll never forget the first time we played the song at Big Day Out in Sydney. This was a big moment for us as we went on stage a bit nervous, it was a massive crowd of thousands at the Sydney Show Grounds and when we did Old Man Sam, the whole crowd sang it and went nuts.

“That day we came off stage a very different band than the one that went on 45 minutes before.  It’s amazing and dare I say fucking awesome how one song can do that.”

Tickets for Spiderbait’s Melbourne show go on sale from 9am on Thursday, July 11th through Ticketmaster. Ticket and vinyl bundles are also available to purchase as well.
