Snow Patrol are plotting to celebrate their longevity soon, sharing the first single from their upcoming anniversary project.

It’s hard to believe, but indie-rock heroes Snow Patrol have been around for a massive 25 years as of 2019.

Kicking things off back in 1994, the group released their first record – Songs For Polarbears – in 1998, with a few more albums following over the next few years.

While 2003’s Final Straw helped bring them into the mainstream, it was 2006’s Eyes Open that turned them into global superstars thanks to iconic singles like ‘Chasing Cars’ and ‘You’re All I Have’.

Now, it seems like it’s time for the group take a bit of a look back at everything they’ve done, alluding to a 25th anniversary project for the near future.

“We’ve been working in the studio over the last few months on a project to celebrate 25 years of Snow Patrol,” the group wrote on Twitter recently. “The first piece of music, ‘Time Won’t Go Slowly,’ is coming out tomorrow.”

Staying true to their promises, Snow Patrol released the new track a little earlier today, with frontman Gary Lightbody showing off his crooning skills on the downbeat tune.

While details are extremely scarce in regards to the new project, some fans have begun hoping that ‘Big Broken’ might make an appearance on the new release, having been performed live as a new song back in 2010, before disappearing from the live set and never reappearing on a studio album.

While we wait for news from the group, Snow Patrol are set to visit Aussie shores in just over a month, performing in Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney as part of their Live And Acoustic tour. Tickets are available now, so don’t miss out on the chance to wish the band a happy 25th birthday!
