With a brand new album on the horizon, it seems that Bat For Lashes just couldn’t wait to sink their teeth into the music scene, releasing a new EP today titled Jasmine.

Natasha Khan, known professionally as Bat for Lashes, is an English singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Under the name of Bat for Lashes she has been releasing music since the hallowed days of Fur and Gold, which came out in the distant past of 2006.

And now, she is set to release her brand new project, Lost Girls, which is to be released on September 6th, and will be a full-length album. The last full project from Khan came out in 2016, so it’s safe to say we have been waiting quite some time for this.

However, seemingly out of nowhere, Bat for Lashes has released a four-track EP titled Jasmine, which includes the smooth-sailing single ‘Kids In The Dark’. Also, the cover for this EP is absolutely incredible, and I want twenty posters of it hanging in my room.

EP opener ‘Jasmine’ creeps around the halls like something beautiful and seductive in the night. It dazzles in bright synths and haunts with whispered words, setting the tone for the entire mini-project. If ‘Jasmine’ is any taste of the new Bat for Lashes project, then we are completely mesmerised by its siren call.

Following ‘Jasmine’ is ‘The Hunger’ which follows a similar vibe to its predecessor. Teeth are bared and words sung are but a gentle whisper over the waters, as the long slowly builds into something glorious and triumphant.

Wrapping up the project are two songs which were out in the world before today, the bouncing and jittering pop piece ‘Feel For You’, and the sombre sunset-watcher ‘Kids In the Dark’.

We simply can’t wait for the next project to come our way.
