We’ve seen some wild antics at shows over the years, but a punter performing with the Foo Fighters while dressed as Freddie Mercury might just take the cake.

If you’ve ever been to a Foo Fighters gig, you’d likely be aware that there is a bloody good chance at least one fan will be pulled up on stage for whatever reason.

Why, we’ve seen John Travolta onstage, fans in wheelchairs, young children, the medic that tended to Dave Grohl’s broken leg, and the legendary KISS guy, but now, we’ve also seen a fan dressed as Freddie Mercury join these ranks.

On Friday, the Foo Fighters returned to the Leeds Festival for their seventh headlining appearance, delivering a set full of classics and memorable moments. In fact, fans were also treated to a special appearance by Dave Grohl’s daughter Violet, who performed ‘My Hero’ with her dad.

But the most amazing moment of the night was undoubtedly when Taylor Hawkins took the mic to deliver his cover of ‘Under Pressure’, as made famous by Queen and David Bowie.

However, while doing some vocal warmups that would make Freddie Mercury jealous, he spied a fan dressed as the iconic Queen frontman, who was soon invited up on stage.

“Freddie, do you know how to sing, or are you just wearing the jacket and the moustache?” Grohl asked the fan, before punters soon helped him crowdsurf to the stage.

Dressed in Mercury’s iconic gold jacket, white pants, and even bringing his own (the moustache went missing on his way to the front), the fan named Ryan quickly face to face with Grohl and Hawkins, providing “his Freddie moves” while the group powered through ‘Under Pressure’.

Displaying some stunning moves indeed, Ryan seemed to impress quite a few folks out there, with some outlets reporting that a “Freddie Mercury hologram” had even joined the Foo Fighters onstage.

In related news, the Foo Fighters could be set to enter the studio soon, with Taylor Hawkins revealing that the band will likely have a new record out in 2020.

While it remains to be seen whether or not this album will arrive on schedule, Dave Grohl did however raise excitement levels recently after revealing that there could still be a future for he and Josh Homme in Them Crooked Vultures.

“Technically we’re still a band,” Grohl explained. “We practise once every decade, and we’re coming up on another decade aren’t we? I don’t have any official news but there’s always something cooking.”
