Indie fans, rejoice!

The two Chris’ (Chrises, Chris-es?) from Vampire Weekend – Chris Baio and Chris Thomson – are getting into the podcast world in launching their own show, The Road Taken, next month. The podcast will be featuring fellow musicians coming by to talk about life on the road; the challenges and realities of it all.

Premiering on October 2nd, the musicians have told Billboard what listeners can expect from their latest venture.

“When CT told me he had an idea for a podcast about touring, I thought to myself, “But wait! Touring is boring”,” Baio explained.

“Little did I know what I was in for: discussions across decades and genres about how touring is both art and commerce, how it changes the music artists make, and how it can be punishing sometimes and rewarding at others.”

Guests already confirmed for The Road Taken include The Strokes’ Albert Hammond Jr., Laura Marling, The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney, Michelle Branch, Mumford and Sons’ Winston Marshall and Havoc from Mobb Deep.

Vampire Weekend themselves are on the road with their latest album, Father Of The Bride, which marked the band’s first studio record (and their first on a major label) in six years.

“I’ve been fascinated by the endless mystique and social economy of touring,” Thomson has said.

“Probably even more so as I found myself fully part of that world with Vampire Weekend. In my own experience, I realised that a lot of what I had read and imagined was true…and a lot of it was wildly inaccurate! This podcast then, is kind of a Trojan Horse for me; it has allowed me to have the conversations about touring that I’ve always wanted to have – and to hear! – with so many people I respect and look up to.”
