If you’re keen to see Dave Grohl play to a much younger audience than he’s used to, you might want to tune in to the upcoming episode of Nickelodeon’s Ryan’s Mystery Playdate.

For anyone who’s spent time watching television with younger kids this year, there’s a fair chance you might have come across Ryan’s Mystery Playdate.

Starring eight-year-old YouTuber Ryan Kaji, the program kicked off earlier this year and sees the titular youngster teaming up with some famous faces as they get to live in Ryan’s world for a brief time.

With recent episodes featuring the likes of skateboarding icon (and Psychedelic Porn Crumpets fan) Tony Hawk, Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon, and famed animator Butch Hartman, Ryan clearly has a bit of pull in the entertainment world.

Now, he’s set to bring in one of the most famous rockstars of the modern era.

Taking to Facebook, Nick Jr. shared a preview of an upcoming episode, featuring none other Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl.

“Hi everybody, I’m Dave Grohl,” the rocker explains in the clip. “I’m a rock ‘n roll musician, but this is kind of the coolest thing yet.

“My daughter has been watching the show constantly, so it’s like meeting a real rockstar. I’m not the rockstar here, Ryan is.”

In addition to playing guitar, the kazoo, and copping a pie to the face, Grohl tells us that he’s keen to help the younger generation learn the importance of music.

“It’s important for every kid to learn about music and learn to play an instrument,” he added. “But the best part is when you get together with your friends and play a song. That’s the best thing.”

While no air date was unveiled, it seems as though this new episode is set to air on Thursday in the US, with the episode the clip is likely from being titled “Ryan’s Legendary Playdate/Ryan’s Master Handed Playdate”.

According to the episode’s synopsis, “Ryan rocks and shreds through challenges before going for the record with his legendary play date; Ryan must shine a light on some challenges before putting on a charaded performance with his mystery play date.”
