Eamon, Matt and Pricey had a chat with hosts Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon before performing ‘Pub Feed’ live on morning TV. The Chats are gearing up to release their debut album High Risk Behaviour in late March.
It’s been blessed rise up the ranks for the three dropkick drongos from the Sunshine Coast. After the viral success of their 2017 single ‘Smoko’, The Chats became triple j favourites and made fans out of heroes like Dave Grohl, Josh Homme and Alex Turner.

Another high profile fan is Today Show host Karl Stefanovic. Stefanovic tried desperately to flex his credentials as a genuine Chats fan during the band’s debut morning TV appearance.
“Musically you’re very good – I’ve been following you lads for quite some time now – musically you’re fantastic,” he said. “People right around Australia, you’re about to see something truly special.”
When questioned on the amount of effort that goes into their distinctive lyrical content, singer Eamon Sandwith admitted, “Yeah, we don’t try too hard.” All up it was a fairly awkward interview, which is as you’d expect given the incongruity of the situation. But despite the early start time, the band thrashed out ‘Pub Feed’ like a bunch of TV pros.

‘Pub Feed’ recently landed at number 21 in triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2019. The Chats are staring down a hectic touring schedule following the release of High Risk Behaviour. They’ll start things off at Coachella in early April before hitting just about every other locale you can think of in the US. Then they’ll visit the EU and a little known, internationally irrelevant place known as the UK.
