It feels like a lifetime ago that punk-zaddy Beto O’Rourke was gunning for presidency. The former Texas congressman won over our collective hearts with musings on his punk past. As a teenager, O’Rourke cut his teeth playing in post-hardcore band Foss — with At the Drive-In and Mars Volta frontman Cedric Bixler-Zavala.

Unfortunately, we all most live to watch our heroes fall from grace. On Monday O’Rourke announced his endorsement of the significantly less-punk Democratic candidate, Joe Biden. This declaration did not fly with former bandmate Bixler-Zavala, who expressed his disappointment in O’Rourke on Instagram.

Last night, Bixler-Zavala shared a photo of Bernie Sanders with the caption “Bernie Sanders All The Fucking Way!!” and wrote, “No thank you Biden.”

The musician went on to respond to fans’ comments. One fan wrote “Beto really bummed me out bad by supporting Biden” to which Bixler-Zavala responded, “me too.”

In response to another comment asking whether Bixler-Zavala denounced his support for O’Rourke he wrote “denounced in the comatorium,” referencing the Mars Volta’s 2003 album De-Loused In The Comatorium. You can check out the post below.

In other news, Cedric Bixler-Zavala was recently forced to put his dog down yesterday after she consumed rat poisoning. In an Instagram post, the musician blamed the incident of Scientologists, namely those who protected Scientologist actor Danny Masterson.

In 2017, Bixler-Zavala’s wife Chrissie Carnell accused That ’70s Show actor Danny Masterson of sexual abuse that occurred while they were dating in the late ’90s. Masterson has been accused of similar actions by several other women as well, which he denied all claims for.

“This is what I’ve been finding in my front and backyard. This is what Scientology does when you speak about the predators they protect,” the Mars Volta frontman wrote.

“We had to put her down today,” Bixler-Zavala wrote in another Instagram post, in memoriam of their dog. “This was the result of eating rat poison rolled up in raw meat. This is the 2nd dog we’ve had to put down due to the harassment from private investigators and Scientologists. This only makes us stronger.”

He then posted a full statement regarding the topic, with the caption, “Danny Masterson is a violent serial rapist. He and his church will do anything to cover up his crimes.”
