Foo Fighters have postponed their 25th anniversary ‘Van Tour’ in the wake of COVID-19 and calls for social distancing.
The 11-date trek was set to kick off in April, but will now be rescheduled for later this year. The band’s dates in Oklahoma City, Albuquerque, and Phoenix have been given new dates for December, with rescheduled dates for the rest of the tour still to come.
“Hi, this is Dave. Remember me? The guy who wouldn’t even postpone a show when my goddamn leg was falling off?,” Grohl shared in a statement.
“Well… playing a gig with a sock full of broken bones is one thing, but playing a show when YOUR health and safety is in jeopardy is another…
“We fuckin’ love you guys. So let’s do this right and rain check shit. The album is done, and it’s fuckin’ killer. The lights and stage are in the trucks, ready to go. The SECOND we are given the go ahead, we’ll come tear shit up like we always do. Promise.
“Now go wash your hands.”
In more positive news, Grohl has confirmed that Foo Fighters have finished their new album. In an interview with Kerrang! Grohl revealed that the band’s forthcoming tenth record is “unlike anything we’ve ever done.”

“I’m fucking excited for people to hear it and I can’t wait to jump on that fucking stage to play it. There are choruses on this record that 50-fucking-thousand people are gonna sing, and it’s gonna bring everyone’s fucking hearts together in that moment. And that’s what it’s all about.”

Foo Fighters are just one of the many acts that have postponed or cancelled scheduled tours amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the past few weeks Download Festival Australia and South By Southwest were forced to cancel their events. Whilst Coachella, Under The Southern Stars and Wide Open Space have all announced their postponement.
