KISS legend Gene Simmons is sick to death of people flouting social distancing measures and complaining about being quarantined amid the global coronavirus pandemic. The outspoken rocket reckons we should just “get over ourselves…”
His comments come as most of the US, and a tonne of other countries, are currently under stay-at-home or lockdown orders. Cases recently passed over 1.5 million globally.
Simmons told TMZ that the burden that many are complaining about is “nothing” compared to the sufferings of generations past. “What’s the burden? The burden ain’t much of anything. We should all shut up and get over ourselves, and that includes yours truly.”
He continued; “Look, not too long ago, our grandparents were asked to go fight a war overseas — a war they had nothing to do with — and 50 million deaths resulted in World War II, and your grandparents gave, many times, the ultimate sacrifice.”
Speaking about the possibility of distancing restrictions being relaxed so people can go to church at Easter, Simmons didn’t mince his words. “The well-meaning religious people who hold religious stuff, it’s, like, you’re not listening to the same God I am,” he said, before yelling; “God is saying, ‘Stay home, don’t go to church.’”

It’s not the first time Simmons has given out some great sound bites about the coronavirus pandemic. Last month he spoke with Rolling Stone, and compared COVID-19 to The Walking Dead.

“I would like to wish everyone good health and remind them that ‘the only way is the lonely way,” he said. “Just like your favorite TV show, you can assume everybody out there is a zombie, and one contact will turn you into a zombie.”
KISS was forced to end their North American tour early due to coronavirus-related travel restrictions, and they also cancelled their entire tour of Latin America.
The End Of The Toad tour is set to be their last, if they can get it done. Recently the band teased the possibility of bringing out some ex-band members for some of the shows, but that will surely now be up in the air, at least until the world begins to recover from the pandemic it currently faces.
