It’s been a few years since we’ve seen Black Sabbath in concert, but guitarist Tony Iommi says he’s “not opposed” to putting on another gig with the heavy metal outfit.

We last saw Black Sabbath play their final show on February 4th, 2017 in their hometown of Birmingham England, but now guitarist Tony Iommi has teased that he’d be up for doing another gig with the iconic collective.

In a recent interview with Eddie Trunk for SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation, Iommi came out to say that he’s “not opposed” to future gigs with the band. “I think that it would be good if we could do that,” the guitarist stated.

“The hard thing is,” putting on a Black Sabbath show is “such a big thing [and] you can’t just do an occasional show. Because of the crew, and you have the whole setup, it would have to be a year or an 18-month tour…” which Iommi stated that he’s “not opposed to doing anything,” but he’d “do it in a different way.”

Although frontman Ozzy Osbourne has previously stated that he disliked working with Iommi, the pair recently revealed that they’ve been talking daily while in quarantine, and are keeping their lines of communication open.

Continuing in the interview, Iommi revealed that although he enjoyed the final tour that the band put on, it took a major toll on him, stating: “I felt a bit bad [about] it, because it was basically my choice, my fault, because touring, for me, at that extent wasn’t a good thing, physically.”

“To get in at four o’clock in the morning from doing a gig, after you’ve done the gig, and fly back to the hotel — it was a lot of late nights. You’re living a life like I used to when I was 20,” Iommi detailed.

“Even though we were traveling [under] the best [conditions] — we had our own plane, we had fabulous hotels and we’d base ourselves in New York or Los Angeles for 10 days, or somewhere else, and do it like that.”

“Go out, fly out, do the gig, come back, but by the time you’ve done that, you got back into the hotel, it’s three or four o’clock by the time you get to bed. And for me, now, it was just difficult, and my doctor said to me to try and calm it down a bit. And it just seemed like the right thing to do at that time.”

With this in mind about Iommi’s physical state, he says that he does have in mind “a couple of big things that could happen” with the band, but until then, we’ll just be left waiting for confirmation.
