Supreme is set to release a new capsule featuring the art of the late lo-fi trailblazer Daniel Johnston.
Johnston tragically passed away last September, aged 58. The cult folk hero captured hearts with his earnest, heart-rending musings on life and love.
Alongside his musical ventures, Daniel Johnston was a prolific artist and illustrator. His visual work offered a look into his rare and oft-troubled mind, exploring mythical creatures, demons, humanity and superheroes.
The forthcoming Supreme collection marks the third collaboration between the iconic streetwear brand and the world of Daniel Johnston — the previous collections were released in 2012 and 2015. The new drop features licensed artwork from the singer-songwriter, which will embellish plaid and rayon shirts, embroidered work jackets and pants, hooded sweatshirts, tees, and a beanie.
Johnston’s most recognisable illustration, the ‘Frog of Jeremiah’, features heavily in the collection. The brand have appropriated the scribble and added a speech bubble reading ‘I Know Supreme’.
The collection will drop on Thursday, May 14th. All orders from the website over $150 will be eligible for free shipping amid COVID-19. Like all Supreme releases, this collaboration is sure to sell like hotcakes. If you have big dreams of copping a piece from the collection, we suggest refreshing multiple web browsers on multiple devices, and Airtasker-ing a crew of minions.
