Iso-brain has us all acting brazy. It truly creates an echo chamber where, if we stay in solitude for long enough, we are capable of convincing ourselves that all our worst ideas are actually the product of genius. Iron Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith has announced he will be releasing a fishing memoir.
The rocker has unveiled Monsters Of River & Rock: My Life As Iron Maiden’s Compulsive Angler. The book promises to take fans “to the final frontier of fishing” and is due out on September 3 via Virgin Books.
When he’s not busy shredding the axe, Smith is an avid fisher. The musician has previously appeared on the cover of angling publication Angler’s Mail. He also reportedly has a proclivity for bringing his fishing gear with him when the band are on the road. Different folks different strokes I guess.
“Once a fisherman, always a fisherman,” reads the backstory of Monsters Of River & Rock. “The gear went with him, the fish got bigger, the adventures more extreme…”

A description of the book reads, “Charming, funny, and moving in equal measure, Monsters Of River & Rock is the ultimate fishing-fantasy armchair read, and is also the story of a rock star in a fast-moving world who seeks peace and tranquillity at the water’s edge – wherever he is.”
Earlier this month, Iron Maiden were forced to postpone their May scheduled Australian tour amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“We still intend to bring this great Legacy Of The Beast show to you all as soon as we can and I promise we will do everything we can to achieve this with our promoters and subject to what is happening around us globally,” the group shared in a statement at the time. “Take care of yourselves, be safe and be smart.”
