With many bands speaking out about the current political climate in the United States, many fans are attempting to call out musicians on their political knowledge. For instance, Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine just had an amusing instance of being called out by a Twitter troll.
As America remains massively divided in the world of politics, many musicians have taken to social media to share their stance on Donald Trump and US politics, such as System Of A Down’s John Dolmayan praising Trump for his recent efforts, while band mate Serj Tankian shows profuse disapproval for the current president.
As Rage Against The Machine continues to post politically fueled videos and comments to social media, a few people have attempted to call out guitarist Tom Morello on his knowledge of politics with one commenting: “Another successful musician instantly becomes a political expert.”
This past Saturday, Morello took to Instagram to share a screenshot on an interaction he’d had in the comment section with a user called @davez67.
Captioned, “like shooting fish in a barrel,” Morello showed his response to @davez67 cheap shot at thinking that Morello had just jumped on the bandwagon of shouting politics without knowledge.

Following the accusation of being just “another successful musician instantly [becoming] a political expert,” Morello quickly pointed out that his right to an opinion stemmed from him being an honours graduate of political science that he obtained from Harvard University.
“One does not have to be an honours grad in political science from Harvard University to recognise the unethical and inhumane nature of this administration but well, I happen to be an honours grad in political science from Harvard University, so I can confirm that for you,” Morello replied.
Considering that Rage Against The Machine is centred around being a politically driven band who songs are chock-full of lyrics that express revolutionary political views, the Instagram user that challenged Morello should’ve taken a bit of a peep at the band’s Wikipedia page, or even a look into some of their lyrics.
