Over the course of 2020, Stone Sour have been unearthing demo versions of their beloved tracks and uploading them on to YouTube.
In a recent interview with Trunk Nation, Corey Taylor revealed that Stone Sour were taking a little hiatus as members chip away at other creative projects.
“Yeah, [Stone Sour is] kind of [on] the backburner right now,” he shared. “We all kind of felt that we did exactly what we wanted to do on Hydrograd and we’re just giving it a minute. I talked to the guys in the band about the solo thing and what I wanted to do, and they were all totally onboard with it.
“Everybody else has kind of got things going on, so they’re all cool. Josh [Rand, guitar] is actually working on a solo thing of his own, which is great. So, yeah, I think Stone Sour is kind of on hiatus right now, which is fine. If someday we wanna get back together and do some stuff, it’ll be bigger than it was. But for right now, we’re all kind of focused on kind of doing our own thing. But you never say never in this business.”
Whilst the knowledge that there will be no new Stone Sour music on the horizon anytime soon is heartbreaking, the band are keeping devotees satiated by letting them feast on raw demos.
The latest demo the band has unveiled is the early iteration of Audio Secrecy cut ‘Hate not Gone’, which was, at the time, titled ‘Now I Know’.
“A song Shawn [Economaki, former bassist] had laying around that ended up on the special edition for ‘Audio Secrecy’ This version has different lyrics than the ‘Audio Secrecy’ version,” Guitarist Josh Rand shared of the track.

In other news, back in June Corey Taylor revealed that he has finished recording his debut solo album.
Coronavirus lockdown forced Slipknot to abandon their 2020 tour plans, which consequently provided Taylor with the perfect opportunity to jump in the studio.
“I threw down the gauntlet and I recorded my first solo album. And it’s really, really good,” Taylor said. “It’s something I was planning to do anyway next year when I got off the road with Slipknot. And I figured…why not try and do it?”
