There’s some classic combinations that just can’t be broken up, and one of them is music and chicken. Nando’s has unleashed their WTF Wings offer, so let us take you on a journey of the best “WTF” moments in music history involving chicken.
You may be wondering just how chicken and music go hand-in-hand, so let’s think back to the time before COVID where you’re about to go out to a concert, but you’ve got a hankering for a little something-something prior to jamming to some good tunes. What are you and your mates going to do? Head in for a cheeky Nando’s, of course!
Nothing quite hits that pre-concert hunger like a little flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken, a bowl of chips, and all the sauces you can imagine. Then, after you’ve conquered your hunger, you might just up the chicken-y ante a bit and be seeing a band that even has a chicken-themed song in their set list, ’cause there’s quite a few.
Regardless of how you look at it, chicken and music have always been a bit of a team, from those days in your school disco dancing the dreaded chicken dance, or even listening to chicken-filled lyrics like those in Ocean Alley’s ‘Hot Chicken’.
And, you can dive into the world of music while munching on some Nando’s chicken, too, as their WTF Wings offer launched this week – think ¼ flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken, 4 BBQ wings and a regular side at $11 dine in/takeaway or $12 with Nando’s Delivery (plus delivery fee) every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. If you’re PERi-Perks member you can get this offer any day of the week, so grab the Nando’s app today to sign up!
So, without further adieu, we bring you the best “WTF” chicken-related moments across the music world in celebration of Nando’s WTF offer.
1. First of all, chickens love music, and they’ve even got a certain instrument they’re fond of:
See? Music and chickens certainly go hand-in-hand…or, well, beak-to-glockenspiel.
2. Post Malone handling HOT wings like a champ:
Who can forget Post Malone’s appearance on Hot Ones. The infamous “Last Dab” (a sauce hundreds of times hotter than the average chilli) tends to leave even the toughest of contestants in tears. But, in true Post Malone fashion, he’s cool as a cucumber, and simply readjusts his posture, lets out a “Jesus Christ!” with a bit of a sniffle, and goes onto a spiel about hot sauce’s relation to how “you carry yourself as an individual.”
3. Even more coinciding, A$AP Ferg has a hit called ‘Nando’s’:
Granted, they don’t actually eat Nando’s in the music video, but I can guarantee there’s been a few people blasting this song after a cheeky Nando’s run.
4. Kwame hinting at the legendary Nando’s black card in Aus:
When Aussie rapper Kwame dropped the 2 minutes of straight fire that is ‘schleep.’ one lyric stood out about above the rest: “Don’t pay for Nando’s ’cause that shit comin’ free”. Does this mean that he may in fact have access to the notorious Nando’s Black Card? We know of its presence in the UK thanks to Ed Sheeran and Example singing about it. Has it made its way here to Aus?
5. Let’s not forget about the scene in Blues Brothers where they perform behind chicken wire:

Although they booked into a country and western bar, it’s a little rough around the edges and chicken wire doesn’t just do a good job by keeping chickens in – it’s mighty handy at keeping thrown glass bottles out.
6. Yet another song that has chicken right at the fore-front – ‘Chicken Tenders’ by Dominic Fike:
And finally, if you sing about getting it on with chicken tenders, then we’d definitely call that a “WTF” chicken-related moment in the music world.
