Under The Southern Stars 2021 announces postponement

Under The Southern Stars has announced the postponement of the 2021 instalment of the festival.

The festival was set to see the likes of Cheap Trick, Bush and Stone Temple Pilots make their way across the country for a slew of live dates. Unfortunately, Under The Southern Stars has made the gut-wrenching call to cancel the event, amid the slow roll-out of the coronavirus vaccine.

“There is no confidence that we can keep all safe and proceed as planned at our festivals this May,” the festival shared in a statement. The continuing mismanagement of the Covid-19 situation at all levels of government has led to numerous inconsistencies and on-going broken promises by officials that ultimately affect the safety of our patrons, artists and our crews, both domestic and international.”

The festival has prioritised patron and artist safety. Citing the recent cancellation of Byron Bay stalwart Bluesfest by the NSW government as a ” disheartening display of what could possibly happen to our patrons, artists and crews.”

“We ask you all to continue to believe in us. We must protect our artists and patrons,” Under The Southern Stars promoter, Andrew McManus shared in a statement. “We get it … how many times can the Australian system force another postponement? So we are making the hard decision to reschedule Under The Southern Stars to the first quarter of 2022 and ask that all our valued supporters hold on to their tickets and in return we will be announcing some truly exciting additions to the line-up and festival circuit!”

Under The Southern Stars will unveil new dates for the festival soon. In the meantime, the festival is asking patrons to keep their tickets and stay tuned. All tickets already purchased will be valid for new shows when they are announced.
