To put it mildly, Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider is no wallflower – he’s well known for his controversial opinions and his epic live performances with the band. It’s a sentiment that Twisted Sister guitarist Jay Jay French agrees with, saying that Snider is “predatory as a frontman.”

Speaking on the podcast The Metal Voice, French said that Snider is the best frontman he’s ever seen.

“Dee is predatory as a frontman, the greatest frontman I’ve ever seen. I’ve stood shoulder to shoulder to him, and I’ve watched him against every frontman there is, there’s not one that touches him, in my opinion, not one in terms of his abilities and his professional approach to performing,” he shared.

French also told the podcast that Snider trains for his role of an entertainer as hard as an athlete would train for their own profession.

“He does a two-hour warm-up every single day, from the day he was hired to be in the band in 1976, every single day, every single dressing room he does two hours of warm-up,” he said.

“And he stretches, and he prepares himself to be the best he can be, and it’s a hell of a responsibility, and god knows – if I phoned it in and we sucked, then what?”

French also discussed the “predatory” tendencies of Twisted Sister on The Cassius Morris Show.

“If you’re a musician in the band, you tend to be predatory and you tend to be like, ‘Fuck you, I can blow you off the stage!'”

“If you’re really worth anything, that’s how you think. Anyone who tells me it’s like a kumbaya world and you’re wishing the best for everybody – fuck you, it’s a dog eat dog world. You’re going on stage and I’m gonna blow you away, and if you blow me away, that’s cool too because that means that people got their money’s worth.

“I don’t care who blows away who – if you’re that good and you can blow me away, blow me away because the kids down there will be blown away, so Twisted’s attitude was, ‘Blow us away.’ And no one ever did.”

French was dropping truth bombs all throughout the original interview with The Metal Voice. He also shared that he attended a Bob Dylan concert and said that Dylan was so bad live it was ‘almost comical’.

“I actually bought a ticket to that [Bob Dylan] show with my wife and was sitting with one of his producers. He never turned around to the audience, he played with his back to the audience, never talked to the audience, and was indecipherable in his songs.”

“It was almost comical, almost like he was saying, ‘Fuck you, you’re idiots, you’re just paying to see a god, and I don’t care.’ And half the audience bought into it because he’s Bob Dylan.”
