Dave Grohl has revealed he got so high that he was “tripping balls” after smoking weed with Joan Jett and Miley Cyrus during the induction ceremony for the Rock and Rock Hall of Fame in 2015.
Speaking in a Rolling Stone interview earlier this month, the Foo Fighters frontman opened up about himself, Jett and Cyrus sneaking off for a cheeky choof during the 2015 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony.
“I just remember being there and going upstairs… the ceremonies can be painfully long,” Grohl explained.
“Fortunately, Joan Jett’s performance was at the top of the show. We performed and after a few hours, I went up to the dressing room to drink and wound up smoking a joint with Joan and Miley Cyrus.”
“I came back downstairs… and I rarely smoke weed. I remember looking over, staring at Jerry Lee Lewis and just being… I don’t even have the words to describe it. I was tripping fuckin’ balls.”
Unfortunately for Grohl, he was almost immediately called on to perform alongside Beatles icons Ringo Star, Paul McCartney and a slew of other performers – while still high.
“At the end of the show, Ringo got an award,” Grohl said.

“A producer was running around looking for me to sing the finale of ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’. He ran up to me and was like, ‘Dave! Dave! You’ve gotta be on stage in the next two minutes! We’re doing the big finale’ I couldn’t imagine being on stage.
“I walked out there so high that I hid behind Stevie Wonder.”
The anecdote comes ahead of the Foo Fighters gearing up to be inducted into the Hall of Fame themselves later this year, with the event taking place on October 30th.
It marks the second time Dave has been inducted after Nirvana earned the prestigious accolade in 2014.
Artists are only eligible for a nomination into the Hall of Fame 25 years after releasing their first recording.
But as for whether or not Dave will repeat history this time around?
“I won’t be doing that this year, that’s for goddamn sure,” he declared.
