Barely two years ago everything seemed to be hot to trot for Yves Klein Blue. They had signed to Brisvegas label Dew Process and picked up heavyweight supports with Ben Kweller, Franz Ferdinand, The Living End, The Grates and You Am I, not to mention playing festivals such as Splendour In The Grass, the Big Day Out and Splendour In The Grass. Alas, it seems like despite getting massive radio play for hit single ‘Polka’ and winning fans around the country, it was not meant to be, for the band has gone splitsville. After going quiet for six months on Facebook, the band has just posted an update saying it’s all over, citing the old ‘creative differences’ chestnut.

“Yves Klein Blue broke up because of creative differences some time in the second half of 2010, after 5 years together. We grew up and apart. We now live in different cities and pursue our respective vocations to our utmost capacity. We leave behind 1 full length album and 2 EPs in the hope that you will remember us through that body of work. Thank you for singing along. We remain hopeful for the future.”

Fans are devastated by the news, with some suggesting that it was front man Michael Tomlinson’s ex-girlfriend Megan Washington that played ‘Yoko Ono’ in precipitating the split. Guitarist Charles Sale commented on the post, “AND WE ALL HATE EACH OTHER SO SO MUCH. (I keep trying to post this as myself but it keeps going back to posting as YKB – Charles)”. Hopefully that’s a tongue in cheek comment.
