Australian duo Royel Otis have dropped their new track “Moody”, keeping it simple with the description: “a song about a girl.”
Co-written with Grammy-winning Amy Allen and produced by Blake Slatkin (Gracie Abrams, Omar Apollo, Charli XCX), “Moody” is their latest release, first teased at two sold-out shows at The Troubadour in LA earlier this week.

Along with the new track, Royel Otis recently announced their ‘meet me in the car’ tour, kicking off August 5th in Seattle. The headline run includes stops in Philadelphia, Austin, Boston, New York, and Washington, DC. They’ll also be hitting the festival circuit, with sets lined up at Governors Ball, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, and more.

Before that, they’ll support US superstar Halsey on her upcoming Stateside tour, which also features Evanescence, Magdalena Bay, The Warning, Alvvays, Del Water Gap, and Flowerovlove. The tour kicks off in May, and Royel Otis will join in June for shows in Ontario, Michigan, and Ohio.
Last year was a massive year for the duo: a top 10 album, a Billboard Hot 100 debut, ARIA wins (including Best Group), international tours, a sold-out homecoming at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, and even a DJ set at Beyond the Valley.
Speaking to Rolling Stone AU/NZ earlier this year, Maddell and Pavlovic said they weren’t slowing down. “We’ll start working on some stuff,” Pavlovic shared. “We’ve got a little bit of time away to just work on some music.”
They won’t be taking it easy anytime soon. “We’ve got a bunch of ideas, heaps of them,” Maddell added. “I don’t know how anyone has an actual schedule or routine for writing songs. We just work together, bounce ideas off each other. We like showing each other demos we’ve recorded at home or whatever. And then we work from there.” The process? “It’s always different. It’s like building a cake.”
Royel Otis’ “Moody” is out now.
