Parkway Drive are showing no signs of slowing down, and they now have their eyes set on taking their live show to stadiums around Australia.

It wasn’t that long ago that the Byron Bay metalcore outfit thought they may have reached the ceiling with where they could go in Australia. Then, in 2019, they headlined the Good Things Festival. In 2024, they embarked on a sold-out arena tour of the country, their biggest run to date.

Just last month, the band took to the stage of the Sydney Opera House for what was “the loudest show” the iconic venue has ever hosted. And now they are gearing up for the local debut of their Park Waves festival.

Speaking to Rolling Stone AU/NZ this month, Parkway Drive frontman Winston McCall said taking their live show to stadiums is “the only level left”. In fact, he shared that the conversation happened even before last year’s arena tour.

“The concept of Parkway being a stadium after you’ve seen what we can do in an arena, surely you want to see what we’re gonna do with that. I want to see what we’re gonna do with that, knowing the shit that I am up for!” he said.

“I know that when it happens, because it is a when, it’s gonna be fucking mental.

“I know the metrics of what it takes to be a band that goes into [stadiums] and makes it work successfully. It‘s different from being an arena band, and it takes massive risk, and it takes imagination, and it takes guts to fucking do. But I wanna do it.”

When these shows will happen is still undetermined. As well as Park Waves festival in early 2026, Parkway Drive are set to release a live album and film of their Opera House show and there is still more new music to come.

But make no mistake – Parkway Drive’s mission to play stadiums is very real.

“I’m the loudest voice in the band just going, ‘Boys, before we die, this has to fucking happen, man. We gotta have a shot at this thing.’ It’d just be fucking cool dude.

“Being able to go, I saw them at the Bateau Bay PCYC and now I’m gonna rock up to see those guys that were out the back in their board shorts with their wetsuits on their van play Suncorp [Stadium] would be a fucking sick story.”
