Royel Otis made their Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon debut this week, performing their new single “say something” in front of a global audience.
Fans quickly took to social media to call the set “dope” and share their pride in the Sydney duo, hailing it as another big step in their rapid rise.
“Say something” is the newest cut from Royel Otis’ upcoming second album, hickey, due out August 22nd via OURNESS / Capitol Records. The track premiered on The Zane Lowe Show and was co-written with Billy Walsh (Post Malone, The Weeknd) alongside producer Omer Fedi (Lil Nas X, The Kid LAROI). “This is a song about unspoken words,” the band explain.
hickey follows their breakout 2024 debut, PRATTS & PAIN, which earned them ARIA Awards (including Best Group), a Billboard Hot 100 debut, and a sold-out homecoming at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion. The lascivious album title, they say, comes from the idea that “love bites harder than any other emotion in the world.”
The record’s rollout has already been stacked with singles, including “moody”— first teased at a sold-out LA show in May and, in their words, “a song about a girl”—and “car,” co-written with Blake Slatkin (Gracie Abrams, Omar Apollo) and Fedi again.
To celebrate hickey, Royel Otis will hit the road later this year for their ‘meet me in the car’ Australian tour, with second shows in Brisbane and Sydney added due to demand. Before that, they’ll wrap a run of overseas festivals—Glastonbury, Governor’s Ball, Lollapalooza—and a North American tour.
