Geez Dave Grohl is one of the nicest guys in rock n’ roll! Amidst all the hullabaloo over the release of their new album Wasting Light next month and a secret show they had planned in Sydney, they’ve now announced special gigs a the Auckland Town Hall on Tuesday 22nd March and and Brisbane’s Riverstage on Sunday 27th March in aid of flood victims in Queensland and earthquake victims in Christchurch.  In Brisbane they’ll be supported by none other than You Am I and Cloud Control and what’s more, they’re offering a young Brisbane band the chance of a lifetime, to open up the show. If you’re in a Brissie band and want to have a crack, please note these details carefully:

As mentioned above, Foo Fighters are welcoming submissions from local Brisbane bands for a spot on the Brisbane bill. Submissions titled ‘Brisbane – Foo Fighters Submission’ should be emailed to [email protected] with a link to the band’s music (via Myspace, Soundcloud etc.) between 9:00am AEST, Sunday 20 March to 11:59pm AEST, Monday 21 March.

Multiple entries or those submitted outside this time frame or without music links will not be considered, all accompanying music must be submitted via web links (no attachments will be accepted). The winning band will be notified on Tuesday 22 March.

All profits from the Brisbane concert will go to the Queensland Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal and all profits from the Auckland concert will go to the New Zealand Government’s Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.

Tickets for New Zealand will be on sale from 9:00am NZDST, Friday 18 March priced at $175 and $250. A limit of 2 tickets per purchaser will apply for this show.

Tickets for the Brisbane show go on sale at 9:00am AEST on Monday 21 March with all tickets priced at $99.  A limit of 4 tickets per purchaser will apply for the Australian show. For more information on these shows, visit www.frontiertouring.com/foofighters.
