Sigúr Ros have announced that they’re set to release a double live album and accompanying live film. Released on hotter than hot label XL, the film is due to be released in November, after premiering at the Venice Film Festival on September 3rd.
Entitled Inni, the film was helmed by director Vincent Morriset, who was also in charge of Arcade Fire’s Miroir Noir. The live show captures Sigur Rós in the final show of a tour at London’s Alexandra Palace before they began an indefinite hiatus towards the end of 2008. The show was also their first playing as their core four-piece line up, without the usual aid of string quartet Amiina.
The band was filmed digitally, then that footage was re-filmed on 16mm, then Morrist refilmed it again, using prisms and other fancy ‘found objects’ so fans can expect Inni to be just a tad artier and more visually engaging than your usual stadium concert DVD.
Recorded by their in-house recording engineer Birgir Jón Birgisson, the live album clocks in at a whopping one hour and 45 minutes, and includes the entire Alexandra Palace show minus one song, which perhaps due to length restrictions didn’t fit on to the double CD.
