Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry was rushed to hospital after a guest performance at Billy Joel’s Madison Square Garden gig on November 10th. Billy Joel has an ongoing residency at the prestigious New York venue.

As TMZ reports, Perry collapsed backstage after he joined Joel onstage for a performance of Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way”. Paramedics were called to the scene where they reportedly inserted a tracheal tube down Perry’s throat to clear his airway. He was removed from the venue via stretcher and taken to the hospital immediately.

As COS notes, a representative for Perry has issued a statement regarding his wellbeing, stating,  “Following a guest performance during Billy Joel’s show last night at Madison Square Garden, Joe Perry experienced shortness of breath and was treated backstage by paramedics who gave the guitarist oxygen and used a tracheal tube to clear his airway before taking him to a hospital. This morning, Perry remains in the hospital where he is alert and responsive. The Aerosmith guitarist will be unable to appear today at Rock And Roll Fantasy Camp in Florida and apologizes to those attending. Perry is expected to return to the road later this month.”

Back in 2016, Perry collapsed onstage during a Hollywood Vampires show as a result of “dehydration and exhaustion”.

Earlier this year Aerosmith’s first ever touring van was found abandoned in a forest after going missing for forty years. Read about it here.
