Eminem Goes Old Skool For First Single Of New Album

Following on from debuting his aggressive new track ‘Survival’ via the latest Call of Duty videogame, the newly blonde Eminem has revealed details of his much anticipated new studio album. This November sees Slim Shady releasing The Marshall Mathers LP 2, the spiritual sequel to his blockbuster 2000 album The Marshall Mathers LP, and if the first single lifted from the new record is anything to go by, it’s not just the title that’s harkening back. ‘Berzerk’ finds Eminem making lyrical references to Public Enemy and hi-top Reeboks, while the promotional video (seen below) features a dated boombox.

The 80s allusions continue musically too, with a key sample of the decade’s staple, ‘The Stroke’ by Billy Squier, and the Beastie Boys’ Ad-Rock and his iconic cry of “kick it!” from ‘(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)’. The results, executive produced by Dr. Dre and Rick Rubin, combines Eminem distinctive rhymes with a distinctly retro flavour to intriguing results, which ironically, is the freshest he’s sounded in years.

5ive To Tour Australia With 4our Members

Following their 2012 reunion, 5ive are headed to Australia for a national tour, with the multi-million selling boy band hitting theatre-sized venues this October and November for The Big Reunion Tour. But the members of 5ive and their fans will be enjoying the halcyon days without the aid of Jason Brown, who decided not to rejoin the group when they reformed in 2012. That’s right, just like S Club did last year, 5ive will be heading Down Under with a smaller lineup, of just four members. But never fret, they’ll still be performing all their hits, such as ‘Everybody Get Up’, ‘If Ya Gettin’ Down’ and ‘When The Lights Go Out’ without any altercation to their numerical based lyrics. Everybody now: “1,2,3, 4our will help you get down now.”

Bliss N Eso Star In AFL Promo

It seems that the AFL have totally learned their lesson from last year’s Grand Final, rope in some popular musicians (who aren’t Meat Loaf) and the people will come. Following on from getting You Am I’sTim Rogers and AC/DC to plug footy’s day of days, now they’ve enlisted the services of one of Australia’s biggest hip hop acts: Bliss N Eso. The crew feature in a new TV and online spot hyping the lead-up to Channel 7’s coverage of the AFL Grand Final that shows Bliss N Eso performing their single ‘House Of Dreams’, taken from their #1 album Circus In the Sky, interlaced with game footage of speckies, marks, and goals. As Triple M points out, one of the Bliss N Eso group was also on hand for an opening match coin toss recently, now perhaps they should return the favour and get James Hird to spit some lines on a guest verse.
