Airbnb Is Renting Out Kurt Cobain’s Apartment If You’re Keen

He may have tragically passed away 21 years ago, but Kurt Cobain is a name that will forever be in the headlines, and this Cobain-classified is yet another shining example of exactly why.

Pointed out by the guys at Consequence of Sound, Airbnb is actually renting out Cobain’s former Californian apartment, the very place where he penned one of Nirvana’s most popular hits, the breaking ‘Heart-Shaped Box’.

The apartment is a one-bedroom dwelling located in the Fairfax/Melrose neighbourhood of Los Angeles and is where Kurt and Courtney Love spent time together in 1991 and 1992.

The owner of the apartment, Brandon, writes in the listing, “at the time, Kurt was focused on song writing and his artwork, much of which was created in the apartment, he was particularly into painting during this time and even decorated the walls in the living room and bedroom. His favourite spot in the house: the bathtub. In it, he wrote the song ‘Heart-Shaped Box.’”

The once Cobain occupied place will set sleepers back $150.00 night, and if you’re looking to kick around for a bit longer, it’ll only sting you $798.00 a week and $3800.00 per month, not too bad if you are a Cobain fanatic and/or looking for a place to crash for a period of time whilst in LA.

The website displays many pictures of the apartment now which you can see here, and notably, after we watched the massively anticipated and official Cobain documentary Montage of Heck, we can confirm that the place certainly looks a little more inviting than it did in the early ’90s.

The Brett Morgen directed and Frances Bean Cobain produced doco hits Aussie cinema screens for a limited run on Thursday 7 May, we’ve seen the film and can confirm that it is as heartbreaking as the trailer suggests, as well as providing some shocking revelations.
