With less than three weeks until its kick-off at Brisbane’s RNA Showgrounds, the 72 strong list of names for Soundwave 2013 is now to be reduced by one. And the festival’s boss, AJ Maddah couldn’t be happier…

Following deathcore band Dr Acula pulling out of the hard and heavy touring festival citing their imminent break up, another band have pulled out of the Soundwave 2013 bill just weeks from the event, but as the Music Network reports, there’ll be no love lost for the dismissal of electro-punk duo Blood On The Dance Floor from AJ Maddah who first announced the news via his twitter account, and then went on to complain about the awful behaviour of the band’s fans.

The promoter tweeted the announcement, saying that he was “super pleased” to be delivering the news of the cancellation:

The American electro-glam pair were “ready to share their message of love and courage” to Australian fans, according to Blood On The Dance Floor’s press release announcing that in addition to playing all five capital cities as part of the tour, they had also announced two sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne in mid-January. Shows for which Maddah wrote in a response to one disgruntled fan had “sold 6 tickets.”

As for the reason behind the band pulling the plug, Maddah explained that “one of them quit and they don’t have enough time to replace before [Soundwave].” When questioned by another fan why the band were booked for the bill in the first place, Maddah responded, “someone may have got massively drunk and promised their manager to put them on SW. Just a hypothesis…” Then going on the offensive with one particular twitter aggravator, writing:

One half of the Blood On The Dance Floor, Dahvie Vanity (“Philosopher/ Magician”), also wrote a statement on the band’s Facebook page apologising to fans and detailing that lineup troubles, and costs in recording their new studio album Bad Blood! had complicated their Australian tour commitments. It reads:

Australia! This wasn’t an easy decision. But I want you to know from the bottom of my heart, we love you and we will make it up to you. I promise! I am a man of my word. I can understand that some people have been waiting six years to see us and are very upset by this news.

Honestly given the position we are in now it would have been a total disaster. I strive to perfect tours & make sure the fans enjoy an amazing experience at every show. Some of the band members couldn’t have travelled out to Australia. So we were dealing with not having our full live band to perform on the shows.

The financial end looks pretty rough to do a tour in the middle of an album that we spent massive amount of hours working hard in the studio. There was a lot of factors that unfortunately we’re against us. We are not trying to make up excuses. We are telling you the truth because you deserve to know. We hold your love dearly in our hearts & we are forever grateful for all the love and support you have given us from the very start of our movement.

All I’m asking is a little understanding and patience. I personally will come visit Australia once BAD BLOOD! is completed and tour there first. I know this can’t make up for what has happened but it’s the least I can do. I’m sorry Australia! Please forgive me and know I will always love you. God bless your country and may joy be with you all.
